Private Pilots Licence (PPL) Course
Discover the freedom of flight with the Private Pilot Licence (PPL) course at ACS Flight Training. Whether your goal is to hire or fly your own light aircraft for leisure, or to take the first step towards a professional aviation career through the Modular route, the PPL is your gateway to the skies.
Our training is delivered to the highest standards and approved by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), ensuring you receive professional, industry-recognised instruction from day one.
The UK CAA has recently modernised the PPL syllabus, streamlining the course to reflect today’s real-world flying environment. Outdated topics have been removed, with greater emphasis placed on Threat and Error Management (TEM), GNSS/GPS navigation, and operating confidently within controlled airspace. This modernised approach ensures your training is relevant, focused, and aligned with the way pilots fly today.
Training takes place in our modern Tecnam P-Mentor aircraft, the most environmentally friendly training aircraft on the market. With up to 60% lower fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions compared to other training aircraft, the Tecnam P-Mentor allows you to learn to fly while supporting a more sustainable future for aviation.
The PPL course at ACS Flight Training combines comprehensive practical flight training with the theoretical knowledge required to operate light aircraft safely and confidently within the UK. The course requires a minimum of 40 hours of flight time, including at least ten hours of solo flying, and concludes with a skills test with an examiner. This final test assesses your general handling and navigation skills, ensuring you meet the high standards expected of a qualified private pilot.
With expert instructors, a modern fleet, and a reputation as Scotland’s leading flight training provider, ACS Flight Training offers the ideal environment to begin your aviation journey.
