Night Rating Training Course
Product Details

Experience the thrill of flying under the stars while progressing your pilot career. The Night Rating adds an exciting new dimension to your flying and is an essential step for anyone considering a future in aviation.

Upgrade your Private Pilot Licence (PPL) and expand your privileges with a Night Rating. This qualification allows you to legally fly after sunset, giving you greater freedom, flexibility, and confidence as a pilot. Whether you are aiming for a career in aviation or simply wish to make your flying more versatile, the Night Rating is a valuable addition to your licence.

For those working towards a professional pilot career, the Night Rating is also a mandatory requirement, forming part of the training pathway to advanced licences and instrument training. For leisure pilots, it provides the reassurance of being able to continue a flight safely if daylight hours run out, while also offering a truly memorable experience of aviation at night.

Course Structure

The Night Rating course is designed to be efficient, practical, and rewarding:

  • 5 hours of night flying (minimum requirement):
    • 4 hours dual instruction with a qualified instructor
    • 1 hour supervised solo flight
  • Flight exercises include: night navigation, aerodrome circuits, take-offs, landings, and handling techniques in low-light conditions.
  • Ground instruction: a small amount of theoretical knowledge is covered, but there is no formal written exam required.

Duration & Completion

  • Training must be completed within 6 months of your first night training flight.
  • The course is typically completed over just a few evenings, depending on weather and aircraft availability.
